We are excited to announce that we will co-host this year’s GamesTalente Academy at CGL from October, 17 to October 25. Although it will be a digital event, we are happy to welcome the GamesTalente- team at CGL who will set up their workshop-headquarter on site.

The initiative is a two-stage support program that has been supported by CGL for a long time. It consists of a creative competition and a subsequent academy. In the first phase, the format offers a competition around the production and culture of digital games, which appeals to a broad target group from all social classes. A jury of experts with members from the fields of education, science and games, among them Prof. Dr. Gundolf S. Freyermuth, decides on the winners.

The winners qualify for the second phase, the academy. In the one-week camp, the young people who have won the competition are challenged to create their own game concept as a team. Accompanied by gaming experts and media educators, they implement this concept in the academy and produce a first prototype of their game. At the end of the academy, the result will be presented to the public.

The goal is to promote interest-based personality development, cognitive and social skills, and digital key competencies. In addition, the project also contributes to the young people’s career orientation: not only with regard to the games industry, but also with regard to the entire cultural and creative industries.

GamesTalente is a joint project of the Talent Promotion Center “Bildung & Begabung” as well as the “Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur”.
