Fellowship for urban digital culture starts in Witten
Application deadline: November 25, 2022
You want to experiment with new media formats and digitize the urban cultural scene together with other artists? Then come to Witten as a fellow for urban digital culture!
In a joint effort, the Kulturforum Witten, the Cologne Game Lab and the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft e.V., will enable four creative people to realize their own digital cultural projects for one year starting in January 2023.
With this innovative program for digital productions, the partner network is supporting young digital artists and at the same time strengthening the creative scene in the city around the Wiesenviertel creative quarter. For this purpose, a property in the city center, which has been vacant for a long time, will be occupied and will thus experience an artistic revaluation. The former restaurant on the ground floor will be converted into a work and recreation room this fall, the 1st floor will be remodeled into an apartment that can be shared by all four fellows.
The central concern of the team is not to address already “finished” artists, but curious minds with authentic ideas and a desire to experiment. It is not decisive whether the creative focus of the applicants lies in content production, game design, visual arts, VR or music.
Over the course of one year, the fellows receive free accommodation, monthly financial support of 1,000 euros, participation in a specially developed training program, and the opportunity for intensive networking with the Witten.Lab at Witten/Herdecke University. At the same time, they benefit from the range of production opportunities at the Digital Lab in the Saalbau Witten and the other diverse cultural venues in the city of Witten.
Applications are now open until November 25, 2022 via the website noendtotheroad.de.
