Good Memories
Around Christmas Grandpa always gets grumpy. He states that he once had a catastrophic Christmas. A broken window, a blackout, plenty of frogs and a scared cat? Yes, that Christmas was messy, but the Granddaughter tries to change Grandpa’s perspective to see the beauty in the chaos.
The player guides both of them through the photo album, depicting the months around the catastrophe, with a “memory ball” (as a metaphor for remembering back on moments of life, especially from the perspective of a senior), which bounces around and through photographs, as well as interacting with elements of the photo. Each new page reveals a gleeful moment that has been lost in the hassle and struggles of daily life.
Mechanically the game is an arcade (puzzle) physics platformer where the player navigates a route for the ball to follow to key events.
