Call for Papers for the anthology “Playgrounds: Museums and Games as Media for the Creation of the World”

The integration of digital media into museum practice is considered elementary for attracting new groups of visitors and is thus an indicator of the future connectivity of the museum institution as a whole – from folklore, local history, art and design museums to archaeological, historical, natural history and technical museums to castle, palace and monastery museums as well as memorial sites.

The planned anthology Spielplätze: Museen und Games als Medien der Welterzeugung (english title “Playgrounds: Museums and Games as Media for the Creation of the World”) sheds light on the manifold interlocking of museums and analog/digital games: on the level of practice as well as theory, in the sense of a synergetic discourse between museology and game studies. Multi- and interdisciplinary contributions that discuss a wide range of topics are welcome.

Contributions have to be submitted in German.
