Lecture title: The game and the mind: The psychology of videogames

Someone who is designing a game is most likely making assumptions about what would be fun to play or what might put people off. They would be interested in creating specific experiences for other people, the players, inlcuding emotions, thoughts, ideas and even actions. The questions they ask and the assumptions they make are most often psychological in nature. In this guest lecture we will look at a selection of psychological theories and findings and apply them to the design of video games and the people who create and play them.
