This presentations first half goes through my career history highlights and projects Including LittleBigPlanet, Dreams and more, describing the projects and some of the Making of insights.
In the second part I go through some of my Creative Philosophies and Takeaways from my Artistic Journey as well as Career Experiences covering some of the paradox’s of the creative act and some insights in how to approach them.
About Kareem Ettouney:
Kareem Ettouney is a British-Egyptian artist, art director, and creative visionary with over 30 years of experience in art and design. He co-founded Media Molecule and co-created the iconic video game franchises LittleBigPlanet and Dreams, earning over 100 awards, including multiple BAFTAs for Artistic Achievement, Innovation, and Family Games, as well as accolades from the Spike Video Game Awards, Game Developers Choice Awards, and Gamescom.
Born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1975, Kareem graduated from Helwan University’s Fine Art Faculty in Egypt in 1998, specializing in film and theatre production design. He began his career in 1995 as a freelance artist, working in graphic design, illustration, interior design, and fine art commissions. In 2002, he joined Lionhead Studios in the UK as a concept artist, contributing to titles like Fable 1 & 2, Black & White 2, and The Movies.
In 2006, Kareem co-founded Media Molecule, where he shaped LittleBigPlanet and Dreams through art direction, innovative CG tools, and a collaborative creative culture. As a franchise leader, he mentored teams and drove strategic vision, creating platforms celebrated for player creativity. Recognized as one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in 2016, he left Media Molecule in 2023 after nearly two decades.
Since then, Kareem has focused on personal art projects, creating mythological paintings inspired by his artistic heroes, refining his skills and artistic philosophies.
