Fellowship for urban digital culture has started in Witten

A program for everyone who wants to experiment with new media formats and digitize the urban cultural scene together with other artists!

Last year, we teamed up with the Kulturforum Witten, and the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft e.V., to enable four creative people to realize their own digital cultural projects for one year.

Now, the first-time fellows have arrived in Witten and moved into the co-working space and their shared apartment at Ruhrstraße 27.

The four fellows come to Witten with very individual artistic and biographical experiences. Right from the first meeting following the selection interviews, the chemistry was right between Cologne-based film and media artist Loreto Quijada, Dortmund-based digital designer Marc Kemper, Irish social media performer Frances Hennigan and painter Eunjeong Kim, who recently graduated from the HBK Braunschweig.

About the Fellowship:

With this innovative program for digital productions, the partner network is supporting young digital artists and at the same time strengthening the creative scene in the city around the Wiesenviertel creative quarter. For this purpose, a property in the city center, which has been vacant for a long time, has been converted into a work and recreation room as well as an apartment that can be shared by all four fellows.

Over the course of one year, the fellows will now receive free accommodation, monthly financial support of 1,000 euros, participation in a specially developed training program, and the opportunity for intensive networking with the Witten.Lab at Witten/Herdecke University. At the same time, they benefit from the range of production opportunities at the Digital Lab in the Saalbau Witten and the other diverse cultural venues in the city of Witten.
